Our Trivia Philosophy

Profitable

For just $20 a week you can guarantee a steady crop of loyal regulars. No Frills Trivia is “no frills” because those frills aren’t worth paying for. What you’re paying for is a fun and engaging pub quiz that will create repeat customers. That’s it. We write the clues: you keep the profit.

Variety

We always include a diverse set of topics. Each quiz includes topics like pop culture, sports, literature, history, geography, politics, and more. We’re just as likely to ask about 90s boy bands as we are about Pulitzer Prize winners. There’s always a little something for everyone, and the best teams are made up of diverse players.

Secret Theme

Every quiz is built around a secret theme: the fun for players is unraveling the theme as they play. The theme might be found in the answer, or it might be found in the clue. It could be literal, or it could be a pun. As the quiz goes on, skilled teams will use their knowledge of the theme to inform their guesses.

Stories not statistics

Reciting memorized facts isn’t why people attend a friendly pub quiz. People like stories, and customers have a good experience if they feel the questions are hard, but fair. “This Asian peak has an elevation of 8,408 meters” is a boring trivia clue (answer: Mt. Everest). “This Asian peak was first summited in 1953 by Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary” is much more interesting. We make sure every clue has some context so that teams can make educated guesses instead of feeling stumped by esoteric facts.

a Social Atmosphere

We want each trivia night to last about two hours, but that doesn’t mean assaulting players with dozens of questions. Customers enjoy socializing as much as they enjoy trivia. Each of our pub quizzes is 20 questions, which makes for a compelling game that still allows players time to breathe. A successful trivia night leaves players wanting to come back for more next week, not exhausted or frustrated.

No Frills — And that’s a good thing

Our pub quizzes are designed to be hosted by just one person. You don’t need a support staff to run the A/V equipment. You don’t need designated score tabulators, and you don’t need a spreadsheet to keep track of multiple rounds. All you need is a confident host and a venue to host in. Many of our customers have no trouble finding an outgoing employee that loves hosting, while other business owners enjoy the chance to host themselves. We provide the rules, an outline for the evening, and some tips for hosting a positive trivia night. We provide all the clues, all the answers, and even some printable answer sheets for the teams.
